One of the biggest problems involved with producing a cookie with all natural and organic ingredients is how to keep those cookies fresh long enough. On an environmental and financial level, if the cookies don't hold for at least a month, it will cost too much to keep our customers in fresh cookies. To provide cookies at a price that makes sense to retailers and private customers, we want to spend the minimum possible on deliveries. To prosper as a business we reinvest the time and money we save on deliveries into meeting new customers, developing new products and baking delicious cookies.
Please understand that packaging can only do so much for an all natural product like ours. Heat can be very damaging to the quality of Smarter Cookies. We strongly recommend our customers store their cookies in the refrigerator, or at least in a cool room temperature environment. For even better long term freshness, our customers can keep most of their cookies frozen and defrost them in the refrigerator before eating.
So now you know why our packaging is designed the way it is. Providing cookies without preservatives is consistent with our mission statement. Stamping the recommended use by date keeps our customers informed.
